Brunch at Another Broken Egg Cafe

Today, we had a last minute brunch at Another Broken Egg Cafe on Harrison Ave. in New Orleans. The location itself is adorable, from the building itself to the rustic decor. The front porch would have been perfect for our party of 3, but it was entirely too humid for that. We arrived around 1:30pm. The place was busy and there was a big party waiting to be seated, but we were promptly seated in a smaller side room. I was thankful for this side room because it took us away from the busy main room/bar area, and gave us a quieter room with a view.

Our server, Brooklyn, was wonderful. She was friendly without being annoying and chatted with us about our favorite drinks. We ordered a pitcher of strawberry mimosas, which, as was expected, were much sweeter than your traditional OJ mimosas.

Two of us ordered the Benedict Oscar because it sounded delicious, and trust me, it met our expectations, and then some. This benedict had a grilled flat iron steak (cooked to your liking), two poached eggs, topped with freaking delicious, melt in your mouth, garlic sautéed crab meat, asparagus, and Béarnaise. I could seriously eat this for the rest of my life. The crab meat alone was great with big chunks (even had an entire claw meat) with not a single shell found. Both of us substituted the potatoes that normally come with the benedict with an order of fruit. Now, this is what impressed me. Normally, when something comes with fruit on the side, you get some either too ripe or not ripe at all honeydew melon and a couple of grapes. Not here. This fruit side came with sliced bananas, strawberries, huge blackberries, blueberries, and cantaloupe. Everything was ripe and sweet. The other member of our party ordered the Baked Brie Delight as her entree, which had apples, pecans, and raisins sautéed in a Grand Marnier butter sauce atop warm brie with toasted French bread.

Overall, we each thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back again.
